Collegiate Music-Ed: GO TO YOUR CONFERENCES

The state MEA (Music Educators Association) conferences held at least once a year are some of the most important things for us college students to be attending. It pains me when I hear other music-eds groan (at my school it is required that we all go to Octoberfest, and juniors have to go to the spring conference!) about having to, "sit through" a boring conference.
What you get from conferences:
1. Professional Development Credit
The experiences shared at a conference can benefit every listener. The people who are sharing content can offer insightful and helpful tips to shape your developing career.
2. Connections
The connections made at conferences can build your network and play a major role in getting a job! Staying connected in your organization can allow you to always have a recourse when you are struggling!
3. It is a lot cheaper now than it will be when you are a teacher.
Many colleges will pay for registration fees, and sometimes memberships! Do not take it for granted
4. Learn as much as you can now, and keep learning after graduation!
No one knows every single thing about music education, and there is always room for learning and improvement!
